Tony Lopes Wins Record 15th Stanley Award for Insanity Streak.

Insanity Streak Wins the Best comic strip Award at The Australian Cartoonists Association 2025 Stanley Awards.

The Stanley awards is an annual ceremony that has celebrated the best of Australian cartooning since 1985.

The Stanley’s have been described as the “ Oscars of Australian Cartooning “ in terms of comparison.
The Australian Cartoonist Association celebrated excellence in cartooning over the weekend at the annual Stanley Awards, held at the historic Hadley’s Oriental Hotel in the heart of Hobart.
Tony Lopes took home his 15th Stanley Award for his beloved daily comic strip Insanity Streak, cementing his position as one of Australia’s most decorated cartoonists.

The Stanley Awards, considered the Oscars of Australian cartooning, are voted on by industry peers, making each win a particularly meaningful honour among the cartooning community.
Lopes has been drawing Insanity Streak daily since 2000, delivering laughs to readers across over 20 countries for over two decades through an ever-changing media landscape.
“When I started almost 30 years ago, newspapers were thriving, the internet was dial-up, and my parents were hoping I’d get a real job, well, two out of three have changed. “ said Lopes upon accepting the award.
The cartoonist reflected on his longevity in the industry with characteristic humour:

“Fifteen Stanley’s. I’ve now won more awards than I have working pens. To be fair, though, I keep dropping the Stanley’s on the pens.”
