The captivating story of George Webster's journey in the world of cartooning began when he was abruptly pulled from his final months of completing his school certificate. Shortly after arriving in sunny Queensland with his father from the wintry Kosciusko region, he began creating cartoons to submit to local newspapers. Unbeknownst to him, his then-English teacher had contacted his father and pleaded with him to find a way for George to finish his school certificate, recognizing the unique spark of imagination within him.
George never returned to school, as his father fell ill and required constant care. Within months of submitting his cartoons to newspapers, he received his first regular strip, all at the tender age of 16.
In the years that followed, George pursued studies to become a graphic artist and eventually became an accomplished art director, overseeing a large team of computer designers. His passion for art extended beyond cartoons, leading him to delve into contemporary painting, resulting in a series of successful exhibitions showcasing his work.
Despite receiving various awards and accolades for his artistic endeavors, it is cartooning that has remained the driving force, continuing to fuel his boundless imagination, as evident in his humour.
George's cartoons have appeared nationally in many Australian newspapers and have been published internationally in various publications. Despite his achievements, he believes that the best is yet to come.
