Denise has been a specialist puzzle writer since the 1990s. She is the author of Solving Cryptic Crosswords For Dummies and a companion volume of puzzles, Cryptic Crosswords Puzzles For Dummies (both Wiley Australia, 2012, 2020). She also has two American titles for Wiley — Word Searches For Dummies (now out of print) and Cracking Codes & Cryptograms For Dummies (with Mark Koltko-Rivera). She has been technical editor on three For Dummies puzzle books, and is a professional editor, book indexer and graphic designer.

Denise is the creator of the entirely new puzzle, the Secret Shape Word Find, which combines a find-a-word and a hidden picture, and is now available exclusively through Auspac Media.
