NEW EXCITING MIND GAME....

Available 6x a week

ATTEMPTATION is a novel type of puzzle genre, involving the interaction of digits and letters, blended into words, which are frequently also accompanied by symbols, the most common being the smiley face and asterisk. The reader is required to ascertain the numerical value assigned to the characters. Clues are given, and each puzzle, which is self-explanatory and easier than it appears, has only one solution. Computers are not required for solvability by the reader.

Designed specifically for general readership, ATTEMPTATION puzzles, which encompass an endless array of topics, are presented in the universally familiar arithmetic-addition format, and illustrated with a thematic story enhancing the numerical component of this unique and addictive mind game.

ATTEMPTATION is the brainchild of Melbourne-based Chartered Engineer, Albert Haddad. After graduating from the School of Applied Science at University of Sussex, UK, he worked in engineering design and construction with international companies from Europe and USA, on major overseas projects. He returned to Melbourne after years of extensive world travel. Married with three adult children.

During undergraduate days in the early 1970s, Albert developed an avid and unabated passion for cryptic methods and solutions. With his penchant for detail, honed by an engineering background, he extended the rudimentary 'Digits-for-Letters' type puzzle into the dexterous 'Digits-for-Sentences' structure, which ultimately spawned the creation of ATTEMPTATION. Since 1992, he has compiled cryptic puzzles for New Scientist's international puzzle competition, Enigma.
